Western Pacific Bank: By 2025, the New Zealand dollar will rise against most major currencies
According to the latest forecast from economists at Western Pacific Bank, the exchange rate of the New Zealand dollar against most major currencies is expected to rise by 2025.
The New Zealand dollar seems to benefit from the improved global economic growth environment and the continued decline of the US dollar. But analysts from Western Pacific Bank say they remain wary of a rebound in New Zealand's economic performance as restrictive interest rates continue to ease in the coming months.
Western Pacific Bank predicts that as economic growth accelerates in other countries and the growth advantage of the United States weakens, the US dollar will decline in the coming months and even in 2025.
This makes the appreciation trend of the New Zealand dollar against the US dollar relatively direct, but the recovery of economic growth in the UK and the eurozone means that the performance of the New Zealand dollar against the pound and the euro will be more complex.
The euro and pound will be supported by economic growth, "said Elliot Clarke, head of international economics at Western Pacific Bank
Western Pacific Bank predicts that the exchange rate of the New Zealand dollar against the British pound will reach 0.47 by the end of 2024, 0.48 by the end of the first quarter of 2025, 0.48 by the end of the second quarter, 0.47 by the end of the third quarter, and 0.48 by the end of 2025.
